You might not know her name but I'm sure you know her cat dress, this Brooklyn based designer has had a cult following since the now famous dress graced the pages of Rookie and have been worn by the likes of Zooey Deschanel and others, I myself wore a custom cat dress to my own graduation.
Getting this dress was the beginning of a wonderful relationship with Leah Goren designs (and many emails back a forth to and from Leah herself), according to my esty account I average at least one purchase every 6 months. I might have a problem....
Goren is predominately a pattern designer most recently her work graced the cover of Frankie magazine. In the last few years she has also delved into ceramics which are whimsical without being silly and are just so beautiful. with her choice of colour and shape always on the mark they are always the homewares that gets a compliment in my home. But herd my warning snap them up quickly as they are all hand made one of a kind pieces (even the cat dishes all seem to be different cats with different attitudes) and disappear within 24 hours of being in her store.
Bought this faces dress as a birthday present to myself this year, already saving for the pink floral for Christmas.
Her blog is a great peak into her process and her sketchbook work is epic! I want to cover my walls in it's pages.
Also it's a great source of what 20 somethings in new york are wearing at the moment and I have been so inspired an incorporated some of the ideas into my own wardrobe. Also check out the tumblr 'What I Wore To The Studio' she does with her studio mates and fellow Brooklyn artists Annie Seo, Rachel Levit , Monica Ramos and Emmy Reis.
I'm so grateful that winter has just begun here in Australia which is why I'm even more excited about these brand new cashmere/modal/cotton scarfs, I cant decide which one I want more....as previously mentioned I might have a problem. You can check them out at her new webstore.
